The constraint
A UK retail line covering two bag bodies in PU and canvas, on a shelf date that could not move. Colour was the sticking point: the PU had to sit against a print the brand already owned, and the canvas beside it under store lighting. Sea freight was quoted separately, so the carton plan had to be settled before the run started.
What we did
Ran both bodies off one paper pattern, so the PU and the canvas versions share trims and stitch lines. Sent three PU swatches against the printed artwork and one canvas swatch against the chosen PU; the third PU was closest and was signed off in the second of two sampling rounds, each about seven working days. Then 5,000 pcs, split 3,000 PU and 2,000 canvas on stock material, in about 25 days. Packed flat, 50 per carton, 100 cartons, EXW, with sea freight quoted separately.
