Home/Materials/Lyocell fabric, 170 gsm
Lyocell fabric, 170 gsm
Cool, fluid and slightly lustrous, with more drape than any cotton at the same weight and a soft fall at the seams. It takes print beautifully, which is why it is usually specified printed rather than plain.
| Best for | Drawstring pouches, laundry bags, soft gift pouches and printed promotional bags where the fabric's movement is the point. |
|---|---|
| Limits | It creases and holds the crease, so a lyocell bag looks lived-in quickly. Wet strength is poor: a wash bag that stays damp will mark and distort. It is not a structural material — a lyocell pouch needs interfacing or a board to hold a base. Shrinkage is higher than polyester, so the washed-versus-cut dimension question has to be settled on the drawing. |
A 170 gsm lyocell — a solvent-spun cellulosic fibre, sold by the mills under their own brand names — for drawstring pouches and bags that need drape rather than body.
